WHAT IS ENDURO RACING?
Enduro is an event with multiple downhill stages that are timed. Each timed stage is then added to work out a total time over all stages. Between stages there are untimed transition stages.
The idea of this beginner Enduro is to give our young aspiring racers a glimpse into what Enduro racing is all about. We will endeavor to run the racers as one large group - so everyone will complete one stage before the riders move onto the beginning of the next stage. This event is all about 'giving it a go' in a safe and social environment.
BIKE SAFETY & REQUIREMENTS
Even though this is a fun event - we need bikes to be in good working order. One of our Event Crew will help you check these at registration.
Bikes need to be in a safe working order.
Front and Back brakes must stop the bike.
Gears must work, there are some small hill climbs.
Handle bars MUST have bar end plugs.
Helmets must fit correctly, a snug fit.
EVENT MANAGEMENT
The Club will be running this event with the help of our college riders. Many of these riders have placed in National MTB Events and several are part of the Krankin’ Kids Coaching Program. They will ride with the group and support your children from the beginning to the end of the event. They are an awesome bunch!
Parents - we need you to be their loudest supporter - we’ve got everything else covered! The race stages are short and we would like parents to follow the race along behind the pack and stand on the side of the track to cheer on the riders. Feel free to bring your bike to get you between stages.
Parents are encouraged to carry drink bottles, snacks, additional clothing and a small first aid kit for their children. We really want all the kids to complete the whole event. Racers don't have to complete all stages if they get tired (although they wont get an overall time) but they will have to stay with the group, waiting at the bottom of a stage and cheering on fellow racers.
There will be a prize giving and spot prizes after the event. PLEASE stick around as everyone will get a little something.
SAFETY & COMMUNICATION
A parent must be on site at the MTB Park at all times. If a child needs to pull out of the race, an adult named as an Emergency Contact provided at online registration must be present to leave the event with the child. This MUST be communicated to the Event Organizer who will be riding with the group PLUS the child must then be signed out of the event at the registration tent at Rifle Range Carpark.
