DUMGREE / CALROSSIE CROSS COUNTRY CLASSIC. Sunday May 21st  2017

RACE REPORT

A beautiful still and clear day after a frost showed off the countryside traversed by the 15k cross country loop to best advantage. The course was testing with several climbs and some mud. Connor McLeod lead at the end of the first lap with Kahn Beasley, Craig Richards, Sharn Davies and Warren Algie in close pursuit.

His lead slowly widened over the next two laps to finish six minutes clear of Craig. The mud proved an energy sapper with only seven opting for the full three laps. Several opted for a second shorter lap as a warm down. Junior rides of the day go to Josh Black and Jack Sheridan who completed 30k. Comment of the day made reference to the total altitude gain of over 400m but the lack of descent albeit he ended up back at the start.

The riders enjoyed their supplied packed lunch in the sun after the ride and with plenty of banter. Thanks to the Gormans, Phillips and Woods family for access, the sponsors, volunteer marshals and time keeper Ron.
