PRE RIDING TRACKS

Marlborough Mountain Bike Club has arranged for competitors to have access to the tracks used for the CNZ Schools MTB Nationals. These times have been arranged as a result of our pre-Nationals events being cancelled due to Covid-19 lockdown.
Access to these properties is strictly restricted to the times below. Some tracks are on private land and the Marlborough Mountain Bike Club has a strict access agreement with the landowners requiring all riders to be members of the Club. JOIN HERE NOW.

TRACK CLOSURES FOR SIGN-OFF WALKS

OPENING TIMES (SEE ABOVE FOR EXCEPTIONS)

  • Saturday 9th October from 10am to 4pm

  • Sunday 10th October from 10am to 4pm (subject to certain tracks being closed for Commissaries final checks)

  • Monday 11th October – Official Practice (no changes from the access already proposed)

  • Tuesday 12th October – Homebrook and Taylor Pass open from 10am – 4pm for those riders not competing in XC

  • Wednesday 13th October – Homebrook closed for DH racing. Taylor Pass open 10am – 2pm. Tracks shutting at 2pm to allow for checking and taping for the next days’ Enduro racing.

XC - WITHER HILLS MTB PARK

This is a public park, owned and managed by Marlborough District Council and as such is open to the public at all times. There is excellent cell phone coverage across the park. Please obey park and track signage at all times.

DOWNHILL - HOMEBROOK

This track is on private land and the Marlborough Mountain Bike Club has a strict access agreement with the landowners.
All riders accessing the track must hold a current MMTB Club membership. You can purchase this through the HIVEPASS app through your phone or at the link HEREWe suggest purchasing your memberships after the formal announcement of whether the event can proceed on the 21st as no refunds will be issued.

There will be NO SHUTTLING at this location and all riders must push / ride to the top. We estimate a 20 minute ride up the hill or 40 minute push will be required. The vertical elevation is 200m for each. Please factor this into your pre-riding plans.

  • There is no cellphone coverage at this location.

  • A parent / school representative for each rider MUST remain on site at all times.

  • All riders must wear safety equipment as per event regulations.

  • We will have a toilet available on site - but there are no other facilities at this location.

  • Parking is available at Homebrook on a grass paddock which will be clearly marked.

 

ENDURO - TAYLOR PASS / HOMEBROOK

This track is on private land and the Marlborough Mountain Bike Club has a strict access agreement with the landowners.
All riders accessing the track must hold a current MMTB Club membership. You can purchase this through the HIVEPASS app through your phone or at the link HEREWe suggest purchasing your memberships after the formal announcement of whether the event can proceed on the 21st as no refunds will be issued.

There will be NO SHUTTLING at this location and all riders must push / ride to the top. At Homebrook, we estimate a 30 - 40 minute cycle up the hill to the top at Stage 3. Vertical elevation is approximately 250m. At Taylor Forest, we suggest allowing 25 - 35 minutes up hill riding for each of the two tracks. Combined vertical elevation is approximately 250m for Stage 1 Splinter and 200m for Stage 2 Pink Rocks.

  • There is no cellphone coverage at this location.

  • A parent / school representative for each rider MUST remain on site at all times.

  • All riders must wear safety equipment as per event regulations.

  • We will have a toilet available on site - but there are no other facilities at this location.

  • There is limited parking available at the Taylor Forest which will be clearly marked. Please factor taking time to find parking into your pre-riding schedule. We encourage parking at Homebrook and riding to the Taylor Forest. This is a relatively flat 10 minute ride. Please note the requirement for a parent / school representative to be on site when children are in the Taylor Forest if adults are not riding with the children, and parking at Homebrook. Any unsupervised riders (whose adults are still at Homebrook) will be refused entry into Taylor Forest.

IMPORTANT HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Please note that there is NO CELL PHONE ACCESS at either of these locations.

  • We recommend all parties carry a PLB.

  • We ask all riders to bring first aid supplies with them.
